Timeshare Scammers Caught

Six Britons have been arrested by police in Fuengirola (between Marbella and Torremolinos) for fraudulently selling time-share properties in Malaga to fellow Brits.

The company boss and his five telesales operators were offering time-shares in properties on the Costa del Sol that they had already sold several times over, of course this means that the new 'owners' would never have been able to make use of the time-share weeks they had purchased.

People like this make my blood boil, they should be named and shamed, and forced to pay back all monies they have fraudulently obtained. Unfortunately in most cases like this, these people know the shortcomings of the law, and probably can’t have their assets touched.

A spokesperson for the National Police explained that the police investigation had been complicated by the fact that the company had used various different names and had changed its address, moving from Alhaurín el Grande (20 km away, inland) to Fuengirola, in an attempt to throw police off the scent. Let’s hope they get what they deserve.

I only know one person who has purchased a timeshare and she is very happy with it, having said that, I do come across many horror stories.

If you are tempted to buy a timeshare, holiday club, points club etc, please research the company first. This site is very useful if your destination is America. http://www.bbb.org/
