Spanish Towns and Villages. Bocairent

As you approach Bocairent for the first time, the view that greats you will hopefully leave you inspired. The whole town appears to be perched on a steep hillside, with building upon building cut into the cliff face and defying gravity.

With a population of less than 4,500, Bocairent is still a very traditional Spanish town. One wonders how previous generations, ever managed to haul all the building materials, required to build such a breath taking place. Some of the narrow winding streets will not accommodate a handcart, and parallel streets on different levels are joined by very steep steps.
