An urgent adoption campaign has been launched after a local dogs home (outside Xativa) was hit by flood tragedy.
Thirty puppies drowned at an animal rescue centre in Xátiva during last Friday's torrential downpours.
A campaign has been launched to find new owners or sponsors for the two hundred other dogs aged between 2-10 years.
Xátiva Dogs' Home opened 22 years ago and has since seen significant improvements, including: the installation of automatic drink dispensers, a play area, a wooded area for the older dogs to rest in the shade, a store room, and a veterinary clinic. Sadly, many of these have been destroyed or badly damaged. Also food and medical supplies were practically wiped out in the floods.
Apart from new owners or sponsors, staff at the centre say that they also urgently require assistance of any kind, but especially: blankets, buckets, syringes, dog biscuits, building materials, volunteer builders etc...
